Capturing the Skyline: Drone Photographer captures NRG Stadium for Beck Steel

At Cre8ive, we’re not just about crafting stunning websites; we want to communicate your brand’s story through innovative visual storytelling. One of our recent projects combined our expertise in Lubbock aerial photography with our web design skills to create a visually compelling showcase for one of our clients, Beck Steel, based in Lubbock, Texas.

The Project: NRG Stadium, Houston

NRG Stadium, the iconic home of the Houston Texans, is not just a venue for sports and concerts; it’s a marvel of modern architecture where steel plays a pivotal role. Beck Steel, a key steel contractor in the construction of this giant venue, wanted to highlight their contribution in a way that matched the grandeur of the project itself.

Cre8ive’s Mission: to capture the essence of NRG Stadium from an angle that only the sky could offer.

Using one of our 4K drones, we embarked on an aerial photography adventure to showcase the stadium’s unique retractable roof, its vast expanse, and the architectural artistry involved in its construction.

The Drone Photographer shoot

Preparation and Permissions: Before taking flight, we ensured all legalities were in check. Drone operations, especially in urban settings like Houston, require adherence to strict FAA regulations. Our team, certified and experienced, secured all necessary permissions, ensuring safety and compliance.
Capturing the Moment: On a clear day, ideal for aerial photography, our drone ascended, offering us breathtaking perspectives of NRG Stadium. The retractable roof, a first in NFL stadiums, was our focal point. We captured images from various altitudes and angles, showcasing how steel supports this engineering marvel.
  • Wide Shots: These images captured the stadium’s placement within Houston’s skyline, emphasizing its scale and integration into the city’s landscape.
  • Dynamic Sequences: By moving the drones in specific patterns, we created a series of shots that could be strung together for a short video, showing the stadium from different viewpoints.

Enhancing Beck Steel’s Digital Presence

With the photoshoot complete, our next step was integrating these images into Beck Steel’s website portfolio. Here’s how we turned these aerial captures into digital assets:
  • Portfolio Update: We updated Beck Steel’s online project portfolio on their website with high-resolution images from our drone photoshoot. Each image was meticulously edited to enhance colors, contrast, and detail, ensuring that the steel’s role in the stadium’s construction was visually impactful.
  • SEO and Storytelling: The addition of these images not only beautified the website but also boosted SEO through fresh, relevant content. We wrote descriptive alt texts and captions, weaving a narrative around Beck Steel’s involvement in this landmark project.

*Important Update: in the last several years, Beck Steel was purchased by Tue North Steel, and while this portfolio project does not look as dynamic as it did soon Beck’s site, it’s still available online here: TrueNorthSteel – NRG Stadium portfolio project

Why Aerial Photography Matters

Aerial photography isn’t just about getting a high view; it’s about perspective, context, and storytelling. For Beck Steel, these drone images tell a story of their capabilities, their contribution to a significant architectural achievement, and their commitment to quality in the steel industry.
This project was more than just a photoshoot; it was a showcase of how Cre8ive blends technology, design, and storytelling to elevate our clients’ digital presence. We’re proud to have captured the essence of NRG Stadium and to have helped Beck Steel/True North tell their story in the sky.
